ellyWith over 20 years of experience in fundraising, development, and philanthropy, Ms. Brtva has worked with former presidential families, chief executive officers of Fortune 500 companies, and the philanthropic community to raise over $100 million for medical research throughout her career.

Ms. Brtva serves as the vice president and chief philanthropy officer for the Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF). Prior to joining PAHEF, she served as vice president of research foundation and individual giving for the American Diabetes Association where she oversaw the Association’s Research Foundation, the recruitment and retention of its board, and the staff of the Individual Giving Department. In this role, she and her team were responsible for an annual income of $34 million which included major and planned gifts. Previously, she served as the national director of major gifts for the Alzheimer’s Association where she led a staff in raising millions for research. She has served on various boards of directors and advisory councils, and has received numerous awards for her contributions to the non-profit community, including a Point of Light recognition from former President George Bush in 1990.

Ms. Brtva received a bachelor of arts from Truman State University. She received her master in public health from Benedictine University. She has been a certified fundraising executive since 1985. She is currently an adjunct professor at George Mason University where she teaches a graduate-level course in grants funding and development in the College of Health and Human Services.
