Luis E. Jáuregui, MD

jaureguiDr. Jáuregui is chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and associate director of medical education at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He is also the chair of the Infection Control Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at the Center. He was also most recently named medical director of research at the Center. Dr. Jáuregui is also a clinical professor of medicine at the Medical College at the University of Toledo.

He is the author, co-author, or editor of over 80 professional papers, multiple book chapters, and several books. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Pan American Society of Infectious Diseases, the American Society for Microbiology, and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, among other organizations. He is a member of the Medical Education Committee and the Institutional Review Board at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, as well as a member of the board of trustees of the Regency Hospital of Toledo. Dr. Jáuregui has also been the recipient of several awards, including the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching and the Dean’s Award from the College of Medicine at the University of Toledo, Distinguished Physician Award from the School of Medicine at the University of Valle (Universidad del Valle), Physician Excellence in Research Award from Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, and Top Physicians in America in Infectious Diseases from the Consumers’ Research Council of America, among others.

He attended the School of Medicine at the University of Geneva as a recipient of the prestigious Simon Patiño Foundation Academic Award. Dr. Jáuregui received a medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He joined the board of the Pan American Health and Education Foundation in 2002.
