Sharon Frahler

Ms. Sharon Frahler, the area manager of financial resources management at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), has over 25 years of experience in the financial/budgetary field. In her current role, Ms. Frahler is responsible for the oversight of more than $1.4 billion in revenue each biennium, as well as for a $500 million investment portfolio. She is a member of the PAHO Investment Committee, as well as the World Health Organization’s Advisory Investment Committee.

Furthermore, Ms. Frahler has been designated by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of her delegates to the WHO Staff Pension Committee and to the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund’s annual board meeting. Ms. Frahler has been designated by the director PAHO as a member of the board of the Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF).

Ms. Frahler joined PAHO in January 1992 and has served as chief of the staff health insurance unit, treasurer, and chief of finance prior to becoming responsible for the area of financial resources management.  Prior to joining PAHO, Ms. Frahler worked for Sentara Health Systems in Norfolk, VA, the American Chemical Society in Washington, DC, and Nacional Financiera, S.A. of Mexico.

Ms. Frahler has an MBA from the University of North Florida, is a certified public accountant of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and earned a master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College’s Graduate School of Spanish in Madrid, Spain.
