The Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF) is a 501(c)(3) public foundation, based in Washington, D.C., with a strong commitment to public health in the Americas. The Foundation works to advance public health in the region by working with private and public sector partners to jointly address key health, education, and training priorities. Our primary implementation partner is the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). PAHEF’s efforts to meet the most challenging health issues of the day in the Western Hemisphere have been successful with support and collaboration from our various partners, donors, and funders. However, our work is never done and we invite you to consider supporting the Foundation in making a difference in the health of the people in the Americas. Learn more about each of the following giving opportunities: Surveillance and Prevention of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) Help provide a critical epidemiological surveillance program of healthcare associated infections in Latin America and the Caribbean. PAHEF/PAHO SIREVA II, Phase II Support the clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory-based surveillance of meningococcal disease in Latin America and the Caribbean for SIREVA II, Phase II. Indigenous Health Fund: José M. Periago Working with nongovernmental organizations in the countries, PAHEF is providing health education in native languages and helping health care providers to learn how to overcome barriers to health care. Child and Maternal Health Grants Program PAHEF is raising money to support grants for the Americas to improve child and maternal health. Our first priority will be to fund those organizations directly impacting WHO’s Millennium Development Goals. PAHEF/PAHO Health Care Associated Infection Control This is a collaborative project with our colleagues from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Neglected Infectious and Tropical Diseases Help us achieve the elimination of key infectious diseases in the region as well as support the tracking of dengue. Donations to the Americas Amigas Fund help low-income women in the Brazilian Amazon receive life-saving mammograms. |
